Tub Lan National Park Closes Viewpoint Due to Tigers and 40 Wild Elephants Roaming Forest Edge
Officials from Tub Lan National Park have reported a large herd of approximately 40 wild elephants moving along the forest edge, prompting immediate monitoring and intervention efforts. Local villagers from Prong Sanuan in Lam Phiek Subdistrict have been collaborating with park rangers to track and manage the elephants, which have been causing significant damage to agricultural crops near the park's boundaries. Park director Yoswat Thianswat confirmed that the area actually hosts a larger elephant population of around 200 animals, which have been strategically dispersing into smaller groups to avoid confrontation with authorities. The park has deployed thermal drone surveillance and rapid response teams to ensure community safety, particularly in tourism areas like Pha Kep Tawan, which has been temporarily closed due to wildlife movements.
