Election Commission Warns: No Poll Results Disclosure 7 Days Before Election

On February 1, 2024, the Election Commission (EC) issued a warning to agencies, organizations, educational institutions, media, and those involved in conducting or publishing public opinion surveys or polls about the parliamentary election. The EC urges careful adherence to the law, specifically Article 72 of the Election of MPs Act, which prohibits public opinion surveys conducted with dishonest intent that might influence or guide voting decisions. The commission strictly forbids anyone from revealing or publishing poll results about voting from 7 days before the election until polling closes, specifically between February 1-8, 2024, at 5:00 PM. Those who violate these restrictions will face penalties of up to 3 months in prison, a fine of up to 6,000 baht, or both. The EC requests cooperation from all sectors to handle and disseminate election-related information responsibly, ensuring a fair, just, and legally compliant election environment.
