Court Sentences 1 Month in Prison for Two PDRC Protest Leaders for Violating Public Assembly Law
On February 4, 2026, at the Dusit Provincial Court, a hearing was held for case number A387/2025, where the special prosecutor charged Nasser Yeemama, head of security for the Student and People's Network for Thailand Reform (PDRC), and Pichit Chaimongkol, a PDRC leader, with violating public assembly laws. The defendants were accused of organizing a public protest where protesters set up tents on two traffic lanes of Phitsanulok Road, blocked the remaining two lanes with large buses, and placed traffic cones, causing traffic disruptions and potential accidents. Despite four official notifications from authorities to modify their protest, the defendants ignored the requests. Witness testimonies revealed significant impacts on local traffic, university students, and personnel, with over 700 students affected by the protest's disruptions.
