Election Commission Clarifies Voting Principles: Direct and Secret Ballot Protection
On February 15, the Election Commission (ECT) explained the legal guarantees protecting voter secrecy to build confidence in direct and secret voting. According to the 2017 Constitution and Election Law, election committee members are prohibited from revealing voter participation information. Those who disclose whether a voter has or has not voted, with intent to benefit or harm a candidate or political party, face up to one year in prison or a fine of 20,000 baht. The ECT confirms that all election procedures have clear legal protections to ensure voters can exercise their rights with confidence that their information and decisions are legally protected.
