Luang Pho Lee Dhammatharo, of Asokaram Temple in Samut Prakan, was a leading disciple of the Forest Meditation Master Phra Ajarn Man Puritatto. He founded Asokaram Temple, which became renowned and highly respected, even attracting former Prime Minister Chomphol Phibunsongkhram as a disciple. Born in 1906 in Nong Song Hong Village, Ubon Ratchathani, he was a sickly child who decided to ordain as a monk at age 20. After meeting and following various meditation masters, he established a strict practice-focused monastery and named it Asokaram as a tribute to King Ashoka of India, who spread Buddhism across Asia. He was a highly revered meditation master who received monastic rank and passed away in 1961 at the age of 55.
