Somphon Reveals Challenges in Funding for Volleyball Nations League
Somphon Use Bangyang, President of the Volleyball Association of Thailand, led a policy meeting with over 50 coaches from indoor and beach volleyball teams at the Sports Science Center. The meeting aimed to clarify the policy direction and action plan for 2026, focusing on systematic athlete development from grassroots to professional levels. Somphon highlighted the importance of developing young athletes aged 14-16 and 18, and preparing for international competitions. Currently, the association is seeking budget approval for hosting the Women's Volleyball Nations League 2026, facing challenges due to the ongoing government transition. The event is estimated to require over 75 million baht in funding, with the national team hoping to maintain its current league status after narrowly avoiding relegation last year.
