BRN Causes Unrest in Southern Border Provinces, Hanging Separatist Banners and Hiding Explosives
On February 6, security units were alerted to fabric banners with messages about territorial separation and rights claims, distributed across several areas in the Southern Border Provinces. The first point was reported in Ban Ton Makham, Mae Mawi Subdistrict, Yaring District, Pattani Province. In Yala Province, banners were found in multiple locations including Moo 11, Ban Hae Subdistrict, Thanto and Bannang Sata Districts, and near the fruit market on Road 409 in Ban Pisad. Security officials initially analyzed these as a symbolic demonstration by BRN members to create tension and show their capability in the area. Security forces mobilized to inspect and remove all banners, blocking the sites to check for explosive devices or hidden traps potentially meant to target officials.
