Commerce Ministry Prepares Support Measures for Exporters Amid Strong Baht
The Department of International Trade Promotion is preparing export support measures to address the strong baht, planning to propose strategies to the ministry this February. Department Director Sunantha Kangwalkulkit revealed the 2024 export promotion plan aims to create trade value of 142,000 million baht, with approximately 1,000 million baht budget for around 700 export promotion projects benefiting over 294,500 entrepreneurs. Activities will cover both domestic and international events including international trade shows, business matching, online trade promotion through THAITRADE.COM and global platforms, developing Thai franchises for international markets, trade delegations, and sales promotions through department stores and modern trade channels worldwide. The department will also leverage AI technology for trade data analysis and introduce new credit packages for exporters, while launching a Special Task Force (STF) to penetrate new markets in six countries: Saudi Arabia, China, India, Vietnam, Africa, and Latin America, targeting 175 entrepreneurs and 700 million baht in trade value.
