78-Year-Old Father Calls Police to Subdue Drug-Crazed Son Brandishing Knife in Community
On February 18, 2024 - Police Lieutenant Colonel Chokdee Arreeruk from Phatthalung Police Station led officers to investigate after receiving a report from a 78-year-old father about his son's drug-induced rampage. The son, identified as Manop, 47, was found to be in a violent state after consuming methamphetamine, wielding a knife and attempting to harm family members before walking into the community streets. Officers searched the Ban Wang Wai Nam-Thung Lan road in Tambon Tanan, Phatthalung, initially unable to locate the suspect. They later found him at a relative's house on the same road and took him into custody. A search of his pants revealed one methamphetamine tablet, which Manop admitted was his, stating he had previously used drugs and was saving the tablet for later. Manop's father revealed they had previously sought treatment for his son multiple times, but he consistently returned to drug use. Recently, his behavior had become increasingly aggressive, causing fear for his elderly parents. Manop is unemployed and frequently asks for money to support his drug habit. Police have detained the suspect and will proceed with legal actions.
