Social Security Office Clarifies Land Purchase of 84.5 Million Baht Using Specific Procurement Method

The Social Security Office has responded to criticisms regarding the purchase of land for a new provincial office in Chonburi for 84.5 million baht. Niyada Seneemanomay, Deputy Secretary and Spokesperson, explained that the purchase was conducted according to procurement regulations using a specific procurement method. Prior to buying private land, they consulted government agencies about available state-owned land, but the proposed alternative was unsuitable due to its location and insufficient size. The selected land is located near Sukhumvit Road, approximately 200 meters from the main road and 800 meters from the existing office, in a community area. The office is currently reviewing architectural plans received from the Department of Public Works and Urban Planning and has not yet begun construction. The land purchase was funded from the Social Security Fund's administrative budget, and the office is awaiting further details about potential investigations into the procurement process.
