Major General Panuvit: Military Medical Expert Elevating Thailand's Global Medical Standing
Major General Panuvit Pumhirun, a military preparatory school graduate and ear, nose, and throat specialist, has been recognized as a key figure in Thai military medicine. He received the 4th Annual 'Good Military Doctor' award from the Military Medical Association of Thailand. His significant research includes developing a latex surgical tube for blood control, which can save soldiers' lives in combat situations by quickly stopping bleeding in severe injury scenarios. As the first military doctor to receive an outstanding alumni award from Mahidol University, he has demonstrated exceptional academic and field mission achievements. Internationally, he serves as the President of the World Military Medical Association for the Asia-Pacific region, positioning Thailand as a leader in military medicine. In 2013, he led Thai military medical teams in a joint ASEAN disaster relief training in Brunei, receiving praise from the Sultan. He also initiated the establishment of the ASEAN Center of Military Medicine (ACMM) in Thailand, creating a central hub for medical cooperation, humanitarian assistance, and disaster response among ASEAN members.
