Ferry Sinks in Nile River, Death Toll Reaches 21 in Sudan Tragedy

A passenger ferry sank in the River Nile state of northern Sudan on Wednesday evening, with at least 21 people confirmed dead. The boat was traveling between Tayba al-Khawad and Deim al-Qarai villages, carrying approximately 30 passengers. Dr. Mohamed Faisal Hassan from the medical network stated that rescue teams continue searching for potential additional victims, noting that inefficient water transport standards and lack of proper safety oversight may have contributed to the tragedy. Sudan frequently experiences accidents involving local boats used to cross the Nile River, especially in rural areas where bridges are scarce.
