Live from the Sacred Sites - Buddhist Monks and Followers Tour the Four Sacred Places
The Department of Religious Affairs, through the 80th Anniversary Buddhist Propagation Promotion Fund, has organized a project to support Buddhist monks and followers in performing religious activities at four sacred sites in India and Nepal for the 2026 fiscal year. The selected participants include ministry executives and fund committee members who will visit important Buddhist historical locations such as Lumbini in Nepal, Bodh Gaya, Rajgir, and Sarnath in India. The goal is to provide monks and Buddhist followers direct experience at the origins of Buddhism, allowing them to gain deeper insights and develop their religious knowledge to effectively teach and propagate Buddhist teachings to youth and the public. Department of Religious Affairs Director Chaiyaphol Suk-iam revealed that 16 facilitation centers have been established to support travelers performing religious activities at these sacred sites, with plans to expand services in the coming years.
