Hot-Tempered Youth Stabs 26-Year-Old Man to Death at Mor Lam Performance Stage

The incident took place on January 29 at 3:10 AM in Udon Thani province. The victim, named Diu, was attending a local Mor Lam (traditional folk performance) event when a confrontation erupted with a group of hot-tempered youth. An 18-year-old suspect named Kiu stabbed Diu in the chest, causing his death. Police officers, including Lt. Col. Thanet Chotisiri from Ban Dung Police Station, were notified by the local hospital about the fatal assault. They arrived to investigate and found Diu with a fatal stab wound to his chest. The suspect was subsequently arrested with a sharp knife. During initial questioning, Kiu claimed that while dancing near the stage, the victim approached aggressively, prompting him to stab in self-defense. The suspect has been detained for further legal proceedings. The victim's 73-year-old grandmother, who lived with Diu and his brother selling iced ball drinks, was devastated by the loss. She described Diu as a peaceful person who was planning to stay home to care for her and had even canceled plans to work in Israel out of concern for her.
