Tracking Down Suspect Who Broke ATM, Reveals Previous Bank Vehicle Robbery History
Police tracked down a suspect who broke an ATM machine, claiming he was drunk and trying to buy more alcohol when stores were closed. On February 11, the suspect damaged a Government Savings Bank ATM located in front of Thawi Kij Store in Nong Bosot Subdistrict, Nang Rong District, Buriram Province, using a grinding tool but failing to steal any money. Police Captain AnonLek-dee ordered an investigation team to pursue the suspect.
Using CCTV footage, they identified a gray Isuzu pickup truck with Bangkok license plate. They arrested Sittichai 'Noi' Saenkamnueng, 58, from Nong Bosot Subdistrict. Initially denying involvement, Sittichai eventually confessed after being confronted with evidence.
He claimed he was driving around looking to buy alcohol at around 11 PM, and when he saw the unattended ATM, he decided to try breaking it. After about 30 minutes of unsuccessful attempts, he stopped and returned home, describing it as a momentary impulse.
Investigations revealed Sittichai had previously been involved in a bank vehicle robbery in 2010, stealing over 16.9 million baht with two accomplices in the Prawet District of Bangkok.
