Tragic Renovation Accident: Construction Worker Crushed by Concrete Wall Dies on Site
On February 9, 2024, Police Lieutenant Suphot Thitgratoke received a report of a construction worker killed by a concrete slab at a commercial building in Isan Subdistrict, Buriram Province. The incident took place at a two-and-a-half-story commercial building being renovated to add a second-floor terrace. The victim, Sunan (last name withheld), 63, was found face down near the concrete wall. According to Sumat, 47, a construction worker, they were renovating the roof and expanding the building with a front-facing terrace that required removing an upper concrete wall. While demolishing the wall, a sudden loud noise occurred, and Sumat found the victim trapped under a concrete slab weighing over 500 kilograms. Despite attempts to rescue him, the worker eventually died.
