Heartbreaking Story: Former War Hero Becomes Homeless, Without Pension

On February 21st, Facebook member Korakot Ketkaew shared the devastating story of former ranger soldier Piti Bamphenrat, an ex-soldier from Ranger Unit 920 at Pak Thong Chai Camp. After serving as a commando in Khao Kho for many years and surviving the conflict, he returned home without any pension or veteran's benefits. Military officials from Region 2 eventually found him near Wat Sala Loi in Korat and verified his service history, finally issuing him a veteran's card. However, he remains homeless, sleeping on the streets. His parents have passed away, and he has no family. He only communicates with fellow soldiers. This is the true story of a third-class veteran who sacrificed everything to protect the nation. Many soldiers like him spent their youth fighting for country, religion, and monarchy, forgetting to plan for their future. Now, in their old age, they are left with nothing but memories and pride.
