School Shooting in Hat Yai: Campus Closes for One Day After Gunman's Attack

On February 11, an 18-year-old male suspect who stole a firearm from police invaded Phatong Prasankiri School in Hat Yai, Songkhla province. He shot the school director, Sasiphat Sinsamosorn, who heroically negotiated to replace students as a hostage, and wounded a 14-year-old female student. The director was critically injured with a gunshot to the abdomen and is being closely monitored after surgery. Police surrounded the area until the suspect surrendered. The school announced a one-day suspension on February 12 to support student morale and prepare them to return to normal classes on February 13.
