Latest Update: 18-Year-Old with Famous Surname Crashes BMW, Splits Car in Two
On February 4, 2024, highway police received a report of a vehicle fire on the Si Rat Expressway. The accident occurred on a 4-lane outbound road, near the barrier, with vehicle wreckage split into two parts and on fire. Officials extinguished the flames within 10 minutes.
A driver named 'A' (18 years old) was found injured in the driver's seat and taken to Rajavithi Hospital. Another passenger (around 18) was seriously injured and taken to Samitivej China Town Hospital.
The taxi driver, Manai (48), reported that he was driving normally in the middle lane when the BMW suddenly crashed into his rear without braking, then hit the concrete barrier, causing the car to split and catch fire.
Police are waiting for medical alcohol test results, as the driver was unconscious. Preliminary checks showed the driver had a valid license. CCTV footage reveals the BMW was driving at high speed before the crash.
The BMW driver reportedly suffered a neck fracture and brain swelling but is now out of critical condition and under close medical supervision. Reports suggest the driver shares a surname with a former court president.
