Deputy PM Suchat Advances Biological Agriculture by Elevating Chinese Bayberry Processing to Boost Community Income
Deputy Prime Minister Suchat is advancing a policy to drive biological economy, supporting agricultural bio-processing through multi-agency integration to elevate Chinese bayberry processing and generate community income. On February 18, 2026, the Biodiversity Economic Development Office (BEDO) opened a 'Community Biological Economic Development Learning Center' at the Chinese Bayberry Processing Community Enterprise in Ban Kok, Tha Nao Subdistrict, Phू Pheang District, Nan Province. This initiative is under the policy of Suchat Chomklin, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, aimed at promoting sustainable agricultural sector development alongside biological resource utilization. BEDO advisor Sittichai Sereesangsan, who presided over the opening ceremony, noted that this community enterprise learning center reflects community strength in leveraging local biological resources, particularly Chinese bayberry - a signature product of Nan Province. The project involves collaboration between the Ministry of Commerce for marketing support, the Ministry of Industry for production standard improvements, and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to support sustainable resource utilization. The learning center specializes in processing local dried fruits, blending modern technology with traditional wisdom to develop high-quality products under the 'Peng Tawan' brand, thereby increasing agricultural product value, generating income, and improving community living standards.
