EGAT Moves Forward to Enhance Thai Electricity Transmission System to Attract Data Center Investors
Permanent Secretary of Energy Prasert Sinsukprasert visited the Phan Thong High Voltage Electricity Station in Chonburi to monitor the electricity transmission system enhancement in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), in line with the Ministry of Energy's Quick Big Win policy. The visit was to prepare for supporting large electricity users, especially Data Center industries. Deputy Governor Theerawut Wethatham explained that the project was approved by the National Economic and Social Development Council, with plans to increase electricity transmission capacity to 1,150 MW across several stations including Rayong 2, Phan Thong, and Plu Daeng high voltage stations. The government aims to upgrade electricity infrastructure to attract investors and ensure stable, sufficient power supply for high-demand technology sectors.
