Villagers Remain Skeptical About Fallen Elephant After Sedation and Transportation
On February 5th, a 15-year-old male elephant named Sidohupub from Phu Luang District, Loei Province, was being relocated after being sedated. The elephant had been living in the Khon Kaen Province area. During transportation, the elephant collapsed approximately 10 kilometers from the initial sedation point, raising suspicions among local residents. Suriya Wohan, a 42-year-old local villager, witnessed unusual activity during the transportation, including truck drivers discussing the elephant's deteriorating condition. The villagers, who had coexisted with the elephant for two years, are now demanding an explanation for its sudden collapse and death. Local residents like Vannee Amatayakong, 69, expressed sadness and a sense of attachment to the elephant, emphasizing their desire to understand what went wrong during the relocation process.
