Desperate for Work, Man Turns Thief: Breaking into Elderly Woman's Home and Stealing Over 50,000 Baht
On February 9th, an 80-year-old woman named Piang Chan Phibunpracya reported being robbed by Suphis, a former worker she had hired to cut grass and water plants. Surveillance footage clearly captured the suspect's actions. Suphis, around 45 years old, had been occasionally working for her since early 2024, with the victim feeling sympathetic to his unemployment situation.
On February 7th, Suphis was seen renting a room near the victim's house. After a confrontation with neighbors, he managed to break into the house, climbing using a PVC pipe and marble steps. He stole a bag containing approximately 30,000 baht in cash, using a bed sheet to rappel down from the back of the house after the theft.
The victim reported multiple previous incidents of theft and has filed several police reports, but authorities have not yet apprehended Suphis. She discovered the theft when trying to pay a hair stylist and found her bag and money missing. Fortunately, some valuable jewelry was overlooked by the thief.
