Extremely Lively! Tourists Flock to Follow Lisa's Footsteps at Red Lotus Sea
On February 1, 2024, at the Ban Diam Pier in Chiang Haew Subdistrict, Kumphawapi District, Udon Thani Province, the Lisa-inspired tourism phenomenon is in full swing. Since early morning, tourists from all directions have been arriving to buy tickets and queue for boat trips to see the Red Lotus Sea, starting as early as 5 AM.
With 95 boats of various sizes available, the first round of trips was completely booked out. Early tourists secured boat tickets to view the lotus beauty, while latecomers had to wait in line. However, the wait wasn't long, as boats complete their one-hour tours and quickly take the next group of visitors.
Boon Than Sophakul, 52, a boat driver, shared his experience: "I returned from working in Taiwan and have been driving tourists to see the Red Lotus Sea since 2017. Before, there weren't this many tourists. But with the Lisa fever at the Red Lotus Sea, I'm extremely happy. It's stimulating the community's economy, especially attracting international tourists from Japan and other countries."
Phaisit Sukkrom, chairman of the Ban Diam Tourism Boat Community Enterprise, revealed that the Lisa trend shows no signs of slowing down. Especially on weekends, tourists have been arriving as early as 5 AM to book boat trips. On this day, they expected over 300 trips, with boats fully booked from the first round.
The peak season for the Red Lotus Sea continues, with the most beautiful views expected to last until mid-March 2024. For those wanting to follow Lisa's footsteps, it's recommended to visit on weekdays to avoid the weekend crowds. The natural beauty of the Red Lotus Sea awaits visitors.
