Busting 4 Fake Cough Syrup and Kratom Drink Production Sites, Seizing Over 2.5 Million Baht in Illegal Goods

Consumer Protection and FDA officers conducted a major operation to dismantle a network producing fake cough syrup and illegal kratom-based drinks across 4 locations in Samut Prakan province on February 11, 2569 (2026). The raid was led by senior police officers including Pol. Maj. Gen. Kongkrit Lertsitikul, who directed a team to investigate a complaint about counterfeit 'ALLERGIN SYRUP' in the market. They discovered a sophisticated operation producing fake medications and flavored kratom drinks targeting pharmacies and young consumers. During the operation, authorities seized 32,237 bottles of fake cough syrup, 84,000 capsules, 4,346 other medication bottles, 7,800 drink bottles, and various production equipment. The network was found to be distributing approximately 200,000-300,000 bottles monthly to Southern Thailand, despite previous arrests. The suspects were charged with selling unauthorized medications, producing counterfeit drugs, and violating food labeling regulations. The FDA secretary emphasized the serious nature of these criminal activities and pledged to continue prosecuting such illegal operations.
