Oil Tanker Explosion Near Fuel Station Claims One Life, Damages 4 Vehicles
An oil tanker explosion occurred in Khon Kaen near a fuel station and school, resulting in one fatality, damage to 4 vehicles, and 5 oil tanks, with initial estimated damages of 8 million baht. On February 2nd, local officials including the Khon Kaen Provincial Secretary, Kranuan District Chief, and police officers investigated the incident at a private oil depot in Nong Ko Subdistrict, Kranuan District. Foam trucks from the Air Force training center and local emergency services worked to control the fire. Provincial Secretary Kharom Khampithoon stated that the exact cause is still under investigation, with initial speculation suggesting the explosion might have been caused by static electricity from two nearby empty vehicles. The deceased was identified as Anon Roikhamlue, a 54-year-old oil truck driver from Udon Thani. The local fuel station has resumed normal operations, and the nearby school remained open with some parents choosing to take their children home as a precaution.
