Border Interdiction Force Busts Drug Smuggling Network, Seizes 1.19 Million Methamphetamine Pills, Arrests 2 Suspects
On February 16, 2024, the Region 2 Military reported that at approximately 2:00 AM on February 15, a joint task force including the Military Region 2 and Border Drug Interdiction Unit conducted a coordinated operation in the border area of Nong Khai Province. Acting on intelligence about a vehicle smuggling drugs into the Ban Chom Chaeng area, officers set up surveillance and intercepted a suspicious vehicle with two individuals. They arrested Anon, 33, and Ariy, 31, and seized 1,190,000 methamphetamine pills hidden in the vehicle. The suspects were taken to the provincial investigation unit for further questioning and will be charged according to the law. Authorities stated they will continue to aggressively pursue the broader drug smuggling network along the border.
