Tragic Accident: Fisherman Severely Injured After Being Caught in Water Pump Machinery
A 32-year-old fisherman was attempting to fish at a water reservoir with a water pump in operation when he tried to cross the machinery. He was suddenly caught in the pump's rotating shaft, resulting in severe injuries including a severed left arm and both legs. The incident occurred on February 10th, when rescue teams from the local administrative organization were alerted by the project supervisor. The victim, identified as Nikom Boonsuk, was immediately rushed to Non Din Daeng Hospital and then transferred to Buriram Central Hospital due to the critical nature of his injuries. The project supervisor, Danuphol, explained that they were conducting a 50-rai reservoir dredging project requiring water pumping. He was standing about 20 meters away when he heard the pump engine stutter and saw the man caught in the rotating machinery. Local villagers acknowledged the extreme danger of crossing active machinery, with one 60-year-old resident noting that while people often fish in the reservoir, most try to avoid getting close to heavy equipment. The victim's mother was devastated, hoping for a miracle as doctors advised her to prepare for the worst.
