Aphisit Visits Chaat Wad, Helps Mother of 'Chaichana', Crowd Enthusiastic
On February 1st, Aphisit Vejjajiva, leader of the Democrat Party and prime ministerial candidate, visited the Chaat Wad market in Nakhon Si Thammarat province to support Kanokporn Dejdecho, a parliamentary candidate and mother of Chaichana Dejdecho, the party's deputy leader for the Southern region. The atmosphere was lively, with many elderly people waiting to take photos with Aphisit. At one point, Aphisit playfully teased Chaichana about why the local party deputy wasn't brave enough to direct candidate instructions, causing Chaichana to blush. Local people and shop owners offered enthusiastic support, with comments like "Democrat Party is our treasure", "We Southern people only have Aphisit", and "We've been waiting for years." Sathit Wongnongtoey, a party deputy leader, stated that Nakhon Si Thammarat is a key target area for the Democrat Party. He predicted that Southern voter support could help the party secure enough seats to control government formation. Sathit emphasized that the current election is an intense four-party competition between People's Party, Bhumjaithai Party, Pheu Thai Party, and the Democrat Party. He highlighted that in the Southern region, the Democrat Party leads, with Nakhon Si Thammarat polls exceeding 50%. Sathit humorously added that while Aphisit used to give speeches and return home, he's now staying in the Southern region.
