Arrest of 'Chang Bew Modify': Unlicensed Practitioner Caught Performing Illegal Medical Procedures
On February 12, 2024, police officers led by Lt. Gen. Kongkrit Lertsitthikul and accompanied by Dr. Krit Sakulpet from Chonburi Public Health, arrested Thanat (last name withheld), 38, at his residence in Sri Racha district, Chonburi province. He was charged with practicing medicine without registration and operating an unlicensed medical facility.
The raid seized over 977 items including 683 glass beads, 5 boxes of Neuramis Volume Lidocaine filler, surgical blades, syringes, and other medical equipment. Thanat, who only completed sixth-grade education, learned his medical modification techniques from fellow inmates during a previous prison term.
He admitted to offering services like pearl implantation (500 baht per bead), filler injections (1,700 baht per cc), and various genital modification procedures ranging from 6,000 to 10,000 baht. He has been operating for two years, serving 7-8 clients monthly and earning 40,000-50,000 baht per month.
Police warned that such unauthorized medical procedures carry significant health risks, including inflammation and potential permanent damage to reproductive organs.
