Sawaeng Demands Investigation of CK, Even After Deleted Post About Grandmother's Vote Buying
On February 4, 2024, Sawaeng Boonmee, Secretary-General of the Election Commission, revealed in a TV news program that he wants to investigate CK Cheong, the executive of Fastwork, an online freelance platform in Thailand, after his post about a political party buying a grandmother's vote for 2,000 baht. Sawaeng stated that while he didn't initially intend to investigate CK, the post raises questions about potential vote buying. 'Political parties cannot buy votes, and villagers cannot accept money for votes,' Sawaeng said. The Election Commission will call CK in for questioning to determine which political party, if any, was involved in vote buying. If CK's claims are false, Sawaeng emphasized that legal consequences for spreading false information would be examined.
