June Chayanant Explains Removal from MP Candidacy over 37 Baht Media Stocks
June Chayanant, a Ratchaburi MP candidate from the Pheu Thai Party, has addressed her disqualification from the election after the Election Court ruled to remove her name due to media stock ownership.
June explained that she opened a stock trading account as a student in 2020 to earn extra income. After the stock market declined, she stopped trading and left the account inactive for 4 years and 8 months, forgetting about the stocks she held.
One of these stocks was 220 shares of RS Public Company Limited, valued at 0.17 baht per share, totaling 37.40 baht. This represents only 0.00001% of the company's total shares, which she argues is insufficient to exert any media influence.
She emphasized that she had no intention of using media power to benefit herself or her political party, and had been campaigning within legal frameworks.
While accepting the court's decision, June apologized to the people of Ratchaburi's 3rd constituency. She thanked her supporters and pledged to continue supporting her party's objectives, asking voters to support the Pheu Thai Party's number 9 candidate on the pink ballot.
