Today, February 11, 2026, Police Deputy Commissioner Theeradech Thamsuthee revealed that National Police Chief Kittarat Phanphet urgently ordered Region 9 Police Commander Piyawat Chalermsi to take charge of the incident. An armed suspect entered Phatong Prathan Khiriwat School in Hat Yai, Songkhla, around 4:45 PM, shooting inside the school and taking some students and teachers hostage. Police are currently surrounding the area and proceeding with careful tactical operations. The National Police Chief emphasized prioritizing the safety of hostages and civilians, requesting media and public cooperation to avoid live broadcasting or sharing information that could impact the operation.
