Former NFL Player Charged with Girlfriend's Murder

Darron Lee, a former NFL linebacker, has been charged with murdering his girlfriend and is scheduled to appear in court on February 11th. The BBC reported that police were dispatched to a residence near Chattanooga, Tennessee on February 5th, where they attempted to save a woman but she had already died. Lee, 31, was identified as a suspect and detained, and on February 6th was charged with first-degree murder and evidence tampering, with a court appearance scheduled for February 11th. Lee was initially drafted by the New York Jets in 2016 and last played in the NFL for the Buffalo Bills in 2020. He subsequently signed with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2021 but never played and was released two months later. In 2023, he had previously been arrested for domestic violence and assault.
