Teacher's Eyewitness Account: Confronting the Gunman Who Took Students Hostage and Entered Principal's Office
A dramatic eyewitness account emerged from a teacher who directly confronted a dangerous assailant during a school shooting incident. The event occurred when an 18-year-old male, who had stolen a weapon from police, invaded Patong Pradankheewat School in Hat Yai, Songkhla province. The gunman attempted to take students hostage, leading school director Sasiphat Sinsamosorn to offer herself as a replacement hostage. Tragically, she was shot and later died in the hospital. Multiple students were also injured during the incident. The attack happened on the evening of February 11th, during a student council election when students were preparing to leave school. The perpetrator, identified as the unstable and drug-addicted older brother of a student, ultimately surrendered to authorities after a terrifying ordeal that involved shooting classroom doors, taking hostages, and creating widespread panic.
