Sihaskdi Warns: Ready to Defend Sovereignty if Cambodia Intentionally Provokes or Encroaches

On February 2nd, at Government House, Foreign Minister Sihaskdi Phuangketkae addressed the Thai-Cambodian border situation following a recent M79 missile incident on January 30th. He stressed that dialogue channels remain open and building mutual trust is crucial. Sihaskdi emphasized the need for sustainable ceasefire without provocation, and assured that Thailand is closely monitoring Cambodian military movements. He warned that if Cambodia intentionally encroaches on Thai sovereignty, Thailand is prepared to take necessary actions to protect its territory. The minister also advised Cambodian officials to be cautious with their statements, having already warned them during a previous diplomatic meeting in Cebu, Philippines, to avoid inflammatory rhetoric that could escalate tensions.
