Small Friends - Ga Mo and Teng Mo Follow Monks on Alms Round
Every morning, 'Ga Mo' and 'Teng Mo', two smart dogs from Sanam Chai Temple in Ang Thong province, wake up early to follow monks on their alms round through the local market and residential areas, covering approximately 2 kilometers. At points where villagers offer alms, the dogs walk nearby and then run ahead of the monks. Prichai Krachang Chaeng, 66, the temple's assistant, explained that Ga Mo is a male Bang Kaew breed dog, while Teng Mo is a female Labrador, both around 2-3 years old. They are raised by the temple's abbot, Luang Por Somwang. Every morning at around 5:45 AM, the dogs wait in front of the monk's quarters and accompany the monks on their alms walk, running ahead through the community and market. Local residents immediately recognize the monks' approach when they see Ga Mo and Teng Mo running by.
