Unveiling a New Sacred Amulet - Luang Pu Sone's Commemorative Coin
Luang Pu Sone Kantasilo, born in the Patunita family in 1922 in Nong Thum village, Maha Sarakham province, was ordained at age 20 at Somnaskpradith Temple. He became a student of the famous Luang Pu Sun, studying Buddhist practices, meditation, and ancient scripts. After becoming the abbot of Nong Thum Temple, he dedicated himself to developing the temple in all aspects. He passed away peacefully in 1993 at the age of 75. His most popular commemorative item is the 'Phum Khao Bin' shaped medal, created around 1989 when he was appointed as a deputy district monk. Approximately 3,000 medals were cast in gold-plated and blackened copper, featuring his seated image and sacred Buddhist symbols. These medals were distributed to followers and used to raise funds for temple development.
