Housing Estate Residents Complain About Late-Night Chinese New Year Fireworks
CHONBURI — On February 17, 2026, residents of the Chokchai 9 housing estate in Nong Prue, Bang Lamung district, have raised concerns about continuous fireworks being set off well past midnight during Chinese New Year celebrations. The estate, predominantly home to foreign nationals, particularly Chinese residents, has been experiencing significant noise disturbances that are potentially violating local noise control regulations.
A resident, who remained anonymous, highlighted that the late-night explosions were causing significant disruption, especially for elderly residents and children. The ongoing fireworks were continuing even after midnight, creating substantial noise and smoke. According to Thai noise control regulations, permissible noise levels between 10 PM and 6 AM must not exceed the background noise level by more than 10 decibels, making the continuous fireworks potentially illegal.
