1-Year-Old Child Crying, Well-Meaning Neighbor Carries Him Away, Child Found Dead
A well-meaning neighbor picked up a crying 1-year-old boy from his enclosure to help care for him, before he was found dead, drowned in a vegetable garden canal behind the house. On February 2, 2026, Police Lieutenant Wirat Apiwongngam from Seebuathong Police Station in Ang Thong Province was notified of an infant's body found floating in water in a vegetable garden canal behind a house in Moo 6, Wang Nam Yen Subdistrict, Sawang Ha District. Police investigators, forensic doctors, nurses from Sawang Ha Hospital, and volunteers from the Ruam Katanyu Foundation rushed to investigate the scene. They found the body of a male child, 1 year and 4 months old, lying in the garden canal about 100 meters from the house, wearing a long-sleeved black shirt, green cartoon-patterned shorts, and closed-toe shoes. The child's aunt, Rungnapha (last name withheld), 38, explained that in the morning around 8:15 AM, the child was crying loudly in the house enclosure. His grandmother took him to her house. When they returned, the child was missing. The father eventually found the child's body in the vegetable garden canal. Despite attempts to rescue him, he had been dead for some time. Police investigated the scene and found no signs of violence, but will continue a detailed investigation to determine the exact cause of death.
