Anutin Boasts Polls Show Clear Lead, Challenges Claims of Being Evenly Matched
At a press conference on January 31, 2024, Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of the Bhumjaithai Party and prime ministerial candidate, addressed the final stretch of the election campaign following a heated rally in Bangkok the previous night.
When questioned about strategies in major cities traditionally held by the Pheu Thai Party, Anutin emphasized an "organic" approach of walking and listening to people's concerns and needs. He expressed confidence in his party's campaign, stating that all Bhumjaithai Party candidates are committed and hardworking.
Responding to accusations about criticizing parties wanting to amend Article 112 (lèse-majesté law), Anutin firmly denied making any attacks. He insisted that all actions are following legal processes and that there would be no interference or cover-ups in any potential legal cases.
Regarding comments by Natthawut Saisuea, a Pheu Thai campaign assistant who accused Anutin of only listening to "big teachers," Anutin dismissed the criticism, laughing and calling it mere rhetoric. He defended his team's economic advisors, particularly Supachee Ekniti, stating they have only done good work and are focused on benefiting society.
Anutin maintained that his party's approach is transparent and focused on factual information, criticizing opponents for creating sensationalist narratives.
