Coach Yong Knows Indonesian Football Fans' Wild Nature Well
Coach Yong Worawut Srimakha of Ratchaburi FC quickly recognized the danger when Persib Bandung was eliminated from the AFC Champions League Two on February 18. Although Ratchaburi lost 0-1 in the match, they advanced with a 3-1 aggregate score. Shortly after the game, Indonesian home fans rushed onto the field, causing Thai players and fans to flee in panic. It took officials a long time to control the situation. This was not the first time Coach Yong had experienced such chaos. He noticed the abnormal atmosphere and immediately instructed players to enter the locker room. Recalling a similar incident in 1997 during the SEA Games at Senayan Stadium, where home fans threw stones and created dangerous conditions, Coach Yong was familiar with the volatile nature of Indonesian football crowds.
