10 Potential People's Party MPs Likely Disqualified as NACC Finds Guilt in Case of 44 MPs
On February 9, 2026, the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) unanimously voted to find 44 former Move Forward Party MPs guilty of jointly signing and proposing amendments to Article 112 of the Criminal Code. The NACC concluded that their actions intended to diminish royal institutional protection, were not committed in adherence to a democratic system with the monarch as head of state, and brought dishonor to their positions. The case will be sent to the Supreme Court for final consideration within 30 days. Of the 44 former Move Forward Party MPs, 15 have registered as candidates with the People's Party for the 2026 election, including 12 on the party list. Key figures like party leader Natthapong Ruangpanyawut and deputy leader Sirikanya Tansakul are among those potentially affected. Preliminary election results suggest at least 10 of these candidates are likely to win seats, including 8 on the party list and 2 in constituency seats.
