Pregnant Couple Dies in Tragic Motorway Accident Caused by Plastic Pellets
A tragic accident occurred on February 7th involving a young married couple who were driving back to Bangkok. Their vehicle skidded on plastic pellets scattered on the motorway, causing them to lose control and crash into a barrier, resulting in three fatalities. The incident was caused by a 6-wheel truck carelessly transporting plastic pellets that fell onto the highway.
Police Lieutenant Sophon Komolsuthi from the Highway Police responded to the accident on Motorway 7, kilometer 11. The couple, identified as Rat (pseudonym), 39, and Pun (pseudonym), 36, who was in early pregnancy, were both critically injured. Despite rescue efforts, they both succumbed to their injuries.
Initial investigations revealed that a 6-wheel truck carrying plastic pellets had negligently dropped bags of pellets, causing multiple vehicles to slip and crash. The truck driver remains at large, and authorities are seeking to charge them with negligence causing death and property damage.
