Government Orders Strict Prevention of Fire and Accident Risks During Chinese New Year, Urges Halt to All Burning to Reduce PM 2.5

On February 15th, Ayarin Phanthurit, Deputy Government Spokesperson, revealed that during the 15-17 February Chinese New Year period, Thai-Chinese communities will perform traditional rituals including burning incense, offering papers, and setting off firecrackers. These activities pose significant fire and accident risks. Additionally, increased travel and dry winter conditions with strong winds heighten potential dangers. The government has ordered all provinces to prepare emergency prevention measures, including thoroughly inspecting high-risk areas, conducting emergency response drills, and ensuring public safety. Authorities are instructed to strictly monitor fireworks licensing, inspect storage locations, and enforce safety standards for all festival-related activities. The key message emphasizes reducing all burning activities to minimize air pollution and PM 2.5 levels.
