A 26-year-old driver with a red license plate was traveling with his family from Samut Prakan to Chiang Rai when he experienced drowsiness, causing the car to veer off the road and crash into a tree. The accident occurred on February 14, 2024, at kilometer markers 678-679 in Na Saeng Subdistrict, Ko Kat District, Lampang Province. Police Lieutenant Udom Tajai investigated the scene, finding a white Isuzu car with a Chonburi license plate severely damaged. The driver, Wuttichai Phonesiri (26), was traveling with passengers Phittaya Phonesiri (56), Phitthiya Phonesiri (23), and Ruedee Phonesiri (48). All four were injured and taken to the hospital, with Phittaya (56) later dying from his injuries. Police warned drivers to ensure sufficient rest during long journeys to prevent accidents caused by drowsiness.
