53-Year-Old Nakhon Ratchasima Man Dies from Rabies, Warns Public to Seek Immediate Medical Attention After Animal Bites
On February 20, 2024, at the Nong Pluang Manao Tambon Health Promotion Hospital in Nakhon Ratchasima, officials confirmed the death of Seksan, 53, from rabies. The victim was bitten by a dog on both legs between February 11-13, later developing fever and weakness. He was taken to Maharaj Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital and died on February 15 after experiencing difficulty swallowing and increased sensitivity to stimuli. Health officials emphasized that rabies is a fatal disease with 100% mortality once symptoms appear, and stressed the importance of immediate vaccination after any animal bite or scratch. The disease can have an incubation period of up to 3 months, with some cases taking years to show symptoms. There is no cure once the disease develops, making prevention through immediate medical treatment crucial.
