Army Region 2 Closely Monitors Forest Fires Along Thai-Cambodian Border
Army Region 2 is closely monitoring forest fire situations along the Thai-Cambodian border covering 4 southern northeastern provinces: Buriram, Surin, Si Sa Ket, and Ubon Ratchathani, stating that these incidents do not significantly affect military operations in the area. The report indicates fire detection in multiple locations, including near Phanom Dong Rak District in Surin province at Chong Samet, approximately 500 meters inside Cambodian territory. Fires were also observed near Ta Mueang Thom temple about 1 kilometer inside Cambodia. In Si Sa Ket province's Phu Sing District, no fire situations were detected, but in Kantharalak District, fires were found around Chong Phu Phi, approximately 500 meters inside Cambodian territory. Additionally, smoke was observed near Don Truol temple, about 2.5 kilometers inside Cambodia. Army Region 2 confirmed that all fire incidents are within Cambodian territory and have no impact on border security or military personnel operations, with troops continuing to monitor the situation closely.
