Navy Searches for Sunken 'SEALLOYD ARC' Ship Near Phuket, Discovers Oil Leak
Navy Region 3 is searching for the 'SEALLOYD ARC' shipwreck 61 meters underwater near Phuket, with a small oil leak detected. On February 9th, Rear Admiral Veerudom Muang-Jin, Director of Navy Region 3, led a situation assessment meeting with maritime officials to evaluate the incident and plan operations. The Navy assigned the vessel Nong Sarai as the On Scene Commander to locate the shipwreck using sonar. The wreck was found at coordinates 07°43.88'N, 098°16.62'E, slightly tilted with the stern mast 14 meters below the surface. The vessel Mat Phon subsequently positioned buoys on the ship's mast for underwater marking. Preliminary aerial surveys show the oil slick moving westward and dissipating over approximately 4.5-5 nautical miles. Currently, 19 containers have been located and are awaiting retrieval on a crane-equipped barge, with operations continuing despite challenging sea conditions.
