Special Report - Fine Arts Department Attends and Offers Royal Reliquary for Supreme Patriarch Chinaworn
On Wednesday, January 14, 2026, the Supreme Patriarch arrived at Wat Ratchabophit Sathit Mahasimaram and granted an audience to Phannombut Jantarachote, Director-General of the Fine Arts Department, along with personnel from the Arts Division. They paid respects and presented a royal reliquary for the remains of His Holiness Prince Chinaworn. Following a royal command, the remains of Prince Chinaworn, the 11th Supreme Patriarch of Rattanakosin, have been elevated to royal status. He will be commemorated with a new ceremonial name and a newly designed golden enamel reliquary to replace the current urn currently housed at the Na Phra Pavilion in Wat Phra Si Rattana Satsadaram Royal Palace. Prince Chinaworn is the 4th Supreme Patriarch in Rattanakosin history to receive the highest ecclesiastical rank. He was renowned for his extensive Buddhist scholarly works, including critically reviewing the Siamese Tripitaka and personally examining the Anguttara Nikaya. His writings remain essential for studying Pali language and Buddhism. Additionally, he founded the Mahamakut Royal College and initiated the Dhamma Studies curriculum for lay people, alongside the traditional monastic education program.
